The Okawville Village Board met last night and Clerk Waylan Jasper says there were a couple of guests from Kaskaskia College to talk about the new Nashville extension.  The Board approved a $3,000 check towards that project.  He also said there were a couple of amended ordinances for the General Fund to have $808,500 for appropriations, as well as for the Water & Sewer Operating and Maintenance Fund to have $923,350 for appropriations.  He also said there was a sewer line back up a couple of Sundays ago near the 5th Street, Lincoln Boulevard and Lake Drive area, and it needed to be cleaned up.  Last night, the Board approved the bid of $9,073.80 from Haier Plumbing & Heating to see what’s going on and get it cleaned up and fixed.  Jasper talked about the snow cleanup this past month, saying they had 2 trucks out, but did not salt the side streets, so it took awhile.  He said they did receive compliments for the most part, but a few complaints as well.  The Board received the 2013 Okawville Police Activity report from Chief Stephen Millikin.  They handled 1,985 calls, of which 55 percent were officer initiated with the rest coming through the Washington County dispatch.  That’s down from 2,044 the previous year.  745 of the calls in 2013 involved law enforcement action, while the other 1,240 were for service to the community or where non action was needed.  There were 57 misdemeanor arrests, up from 40 the previous year.  There were 6 felony arrests, up 1 from 2012.  There were fewer citations issued, down from 322 to 238 last year.  There also fewer accidents last year compared to 2012, down from 21 to 14. Millikin noted that arrests were up 40 percent from 2013 over 2012, up from 45 to 63.
