The power went out in most of downtown Nashville and parts of northwestern Washington County Saturday at approximately 11:15. This was due to an accident on County Road 27 or Teddy Bear Lane. The all the details of the accident have not been released, but a car struck a power pole as the roads were getting icy. Lines were down and power was out. An Ameren spokesperson says this then caused a fuse to blow at a substation. Crews began to search for the problems and began fixing them, by switching some of the 1,170 customers without power to a substation with power. This was done by approximately 3:10 Sunday morning, but there were still 120 customers in the rural part of Washington County that didn’t get power back on until the problem at the site of the crash was fixed, which was at 6 AM Sunday. Some residents had very low power throughout this time frame, and the best thing to do is to unplug any electronics and appliances that you can. This helps when the power comes back on with the sudden surge. Should anyone still have power issues in the next day or so, contact Ameren at 1-800-755-5000.
