Precipitation was high for the beginning of 2014 in Washington County. According to readings taken by the City of Nashville Water Plant, only 1.82 inches of rain or melted snow were recorded, which is less than the 4.40 inches in December and less than the 5.52 inches last January. There was 11.1 inches of snow last month with 7.5 on January 6th, while there was no snow last January and 19 inches for all of 2013. Temperatures got close to 60 with a high of 59 degrees on January 27th. That was also the largest change of temperatures, as the low was 9 degrees that day. There were several days with the temperature in the 40s and the temperatures were not too low overall, with the low being minus 13 on January 7th. It did seem colder for the month, but that was due to multiple days of wind chill temps below zero. The average high temperature was 34 degrees with the average low temperature at 13.6 degrees for January.
