Kaskaskia College’s “The Reading Link” is in need of volunteer tutors.  “The Reading Link” is holding formal training free of charge for volunteers who are interested in sharing their abilities to assist others in improving their skills.  Volunteers assist adult learners who are 17 years of age or older, in reading, writing, basic math, and learning Basic English Skills.  Anyone can volunteer who has a genuine concern for others, an ability to learn and an ability to read well.  Tutoring can be part of a challenging and rewarding experience. Our volunteers tutor learners for a minimum of two hours per week.  After volunteers finish the training, tutors meet on a regular basis with an individual from their own community in a public place such as a church, school, public library, or other area that is convenient to the tutor and to the learner.  Free Volunteer Tutor Training dates include Wednesday, February 19th at the KC Workforce Center; February 25th at the Nashville Education Center; Wednesday and Monday, March 3rd at the KC Main Campus.  Session II will be held Saturday, March 8th at the Main Campus.  To register for the next training, please call “The Reading Link” at Kaskaskia College at 545-3119.
