The Nashville City Council met last night and they heard from the Washington County Historical Society on the progress of the renovation of the old depot. They also got the results and recommendations on the sound testing done at Sisco Corporation from J.P. Acoustics. Councilman Terry Kozuszek reported that 288 residents recycled 10.3 tons for the month of January. It was announced that Logan Dye will be resigning from the water plant in the summer. The Council agreed to allow for advertising to fill his job now, as the new candidate may need to fulfill some training requirements before assuming the position. Also, Wesley Hampton will not be returning to the landfill job, which is not a full-time position. The Council approved to hire Kenny Oltman to take the position. City Clerk Joyce Sheridan followed up with some estimates on how much it will cost to update the Municipal Code Publication, which is a thick book with many pages added over the years. It was originally codified in 1978 and was last updated in 2008. The quotes are from American Publishing Corporation for 4 options. One option was to just add more pages to the current book. Another option was for the same, but to also prep it for being online. The 3rd option is to reformat the complete book into an 8.5 by 11 inches booklet with 20 copies and for online usage. The final option is to do all of that, plus have a legal team go over the book and make recommendations to bring it up to code. The Council voted to approve this 4th option at the cost of $9,380. Sheridan said they could then get updates as each new ordinance is approved or wait until the end of the year, but there would be an additional cost for this. Police Chief Brian Fletcher says they use their copy of the thick book frequently and it is in bad shape.
