A 37-year old Mount Vernon man is dead and another Mount Vernon man is in custody in connection with that death.  According to Jefferson County Coroner Eddie Joe Marks, the victim is Eric Houser.  Reports indicate Houser was stabbed to death outside the Mount Vernon gun and sportsmen’s club, just north of town on Tuesday night.  The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has taken 47-year old Sam Kehrer into custody on suspicion of involvement with Houser’s death.  He is currently charged with Aggravated Battery Causing Great Bodily Harm.  Kehrer reportedly left the club and law enforcement was searching for him when he allegedly returned and was taken into custody.  The two are believed to be neighbors, but the sheriff’s department has not released details at this time.  The investigation is continuing.
