The Hoyleton Grade School Board of Education met on Thursday night and Superintendent Elaine Hemker reported that they are going to apply for the IMEA Security Grant which is a $5,000 matching grant.  They will also apply for a Maintenance Grant as there are problems with the boiler.  With the snow days used by Hoyleton, they are over the 5 allotted days.  Therefore, Hemker says they are having to make changes to the calendar, as they will have school on March 3rd, originally a day off for Casmir Pulaski Day.  They will also cut a day off of spring break at Easter, so they will be off Friday, April 17th through April 21st, the Monday after Easter.  They will only be using 1 Act of God Day at this time.  The last day of school is May 30th and Graduation has not been set.  The Board approved the annual contract with ETC Proliance Energy and renewed Hemker’s contract.  They will be advertising for a teacher opening, as 7th and 8th Grade homeroom teacher Kathleen Roper will retire at the end of May.  The students will be participating in the Jump-A-Thon / Hoops for Heart event and will be seeking donations for this charity event.
