The Kaskaskia College Nashville Education Center Steering Campaign Committee met for its regular monthly meeting last Wednesday at the Original Springs Hotel in Okawville.  The committee, made up of community members and KC personnel, is tasked with design and fundraising for the project.  The expansion project for the Nashville Education Center plans to replace the 3,500 square feet of leased space in Nashville with a new building with nearly 12,000 square feet to be constructed at the corner of Highway 127 and Exchange Avenue north of Nashville, next to Alco.  Nancy Kinsey, Vice-president of Operations for the College, reported that the campaign has amassed $2,222,671 toward the estimated cost of $3,055,000, leaving $832,330 in private donations to fully fund the project.  A new video, explaining the need for and benefits of the new Center was viewed by the committee members.  The video will be used in presentations to groups in the coming months.  Kellie Henegar, Dean of Arts and Sciences for the College, went over some aspects of the design for the new building.  Be listening this coming Sunday at 8 AM for the Magazine on the V for our interview with Henegar, as she goes through the building, room by room to describe it.
