Students from 11 area high schools competed at the 2014 Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering Academic Challenge Regional, February 12th at Rend Lake College.  The competition is divided by school enrollment.  Division 700 consisted of Pinckneyville Community High School, Benton Consolidated High School and Hamilton County Senior High School.  The WYSE Academic Challenge allows district high school students an opportunity to compete against their peers by completing two exams from a possibility of seven different subjects – biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering graphics, English, math and physics.  Pinckneyville High School came in 3rd in their division, but some students made it as individuals.  James Davidson was 2nd in Biology and Collin Smith was 2nd in English.  They advance to the WYSE Sectional, March 12th at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
