The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was not as busy as a couple of weeks ago with all the assisting motorists call, but they were busy.  Calls ranged from damaged mailboxes in Addieville, to a theft in Ashley and Coulterville, to a dead animal in the road fiber optic wires on the ground at the intersection of Route 15 and U.S. Highway 51, to assisting the Nashville Police on a traffic stop, downed power lines on Thursday at the intersection of Route 15 and U.S. Highway 51, to several calls throughout the county of suspicious activity.  They assisted 6 motorists and responded to 3 accidents.  A week ago, 34-year old James Vuichard of Sparta was arrested for allegedly Driving While Licensed Suspended and cited for allegedly speeding.  Also, 66-year old Kitty Wisley of Nashville lost control of her vehicle on South Grand Road after hitting water and had an accident.  There was no mention of any injuries.  Later, there was an accident in Marissa Township on North Marigold and Highway 12, but as they were looking for the car, they were advised the accident really occurred in Saint Clair County.  There was an accident on Thursday on Darmstadt Road.  58-year old Gerald Brockmeier of Addieville was traveling west, when his car ran off the road, struck a culvert and came to rest on its side.  He suffered minor injuries.  Also, Thursday, they responded to a stolen vehicle in the DuBois area.  It was later recovered by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and a suspect was taken into custody.  No further information is available at this time.
