State Senator Kyle McCarter, who represents Washington County, announced that the Illinois Senate concurs with the Illinois House of Representatives in honoring Staff Sargeant Jordan Emrick of Hoyleton by naming Illinois Route 177 between Hoyleton and New Minden as the “Staff Sargeant Jordan Emrick Memorial Highway.”  Emrick died on November 5, 2010 in Afghanistan and was previously deployed once in the Persian Gulf and twice in Iraq.  The Illinois House of Representatives adopted the resolution on November 6, 2013.  It was crafted and presented by Representative Charlie Meier at the beginning of October.
