Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Breese has been named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of healthcare.  In addition, of those 100 hospitals, the Breese facility was further selected to receive Truven’s Everest Award that honors the top 14 hospitals nationwide that achieve the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years.  The Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals study identifies hospitals and leadership teams that, based on a national balanced scorecard, provide the highest level of value to their communities.  The scorecard measures hospital performance across 10 areas: mortality, inpatient complications, patient safety, average patient stay, expenses, profitability, patient satisfaction, adherence to clinical standards of care and post-discharge mortality and readmission rates for acute myocardial infarction or heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia.  This is the first time Saint Joseph’s in Breese has been included in the listing.  The study has been conducted annually since 1993.
