The Hoyleton Grade School Board of Education met Thursday night and Superintendent Elaine Hemker says they discussed various grants.  This included applying for the IEMA School Safety Grant as well as receiving a maintenance grant to be used to repair the boiler.  It is a matching grant, so the school will be responsible for $2,500.  The mowing bids came in, but she had not made contact with the winner to verify if they were going to do the work, so she has not named that individual or group.  The Board approved taking an Act of God Day for March 3rd, which they decided to cancel the day off for Casimir Pulaski Day, due to previous snow days.  Instead, the weather was bad and they took it off anyway.  Graduation is scheduled for May 27th at 7 PM at the school.  Spring Break will be April 18th through April 21st.  Hemker talked about contacting Dr. Nick Osborne about doing a feasibility study on what to do with the school.  She says they have been in contact with Nashville and Irvington about what is possible if it isn’t feasible to keep the school open, as enrollment has been dropping in recent years.  The Spring Book Fair will be April 9th through the 11th and the Student Council is sponsoring a blood drive on April 14th from 3 to 7 PM at the grade school.
