The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was very busy in the past week, responding to 28 calls with 8 of them being motorist assists and 2 accidents.  Calls ranged from assisting other agencies on calls, several calls of suspicious activity in New Minden, Hoyleton, Ashley and Richview.  There was a report of property damage at a rural Okawville residence.  A tractor trailer had been found turned around in an alfalfa field near the residence.  One accident occurred Friday in New Minden on East 2nd Street at Main Street, as a vehicle driven by 27-year old Ian Ashcraft from Collinsville pulled in front of a vehicle driven by 47-year old Craig Spenner of New Minden and the vehicles struck.  Ashcraft was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.  Also on Friday, there was an accident on Interstate 64, as a vehicle driven by 66-year old Ernest L. Blake of Louisville, Kentucky struck a deer.  No one was injured in either accident.

 

Last Tuesday, Washington County Sheriff’s deputies initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 64 at mile marker 56 and took 42-year old Eric S. Neal of Taylorville, Illinois.  He was then arrested for Aggravated DUI of Alcohol, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Driving While License Suspended, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.  He is in the Washington County Jail on $30,000 bond.  He has prior convictions of DUI from Christian County in the early to mid 1990’s.  They also took 27-year old Bryan J. Burton of Hoyleton into custody after the responded to a domestic dispute there early yesterday.  No other details are available at this time.  They responded to a domestic disturbance in Ashley on Sunday and took Joshua R. Boldrey into custody for a Fayette County warrant.
