The Illinois Department of Natural Resources welcomed the newest members of the Illinois Conservation Police at a graduation ceremony at the end of last week. This included Roberto Macias Junior of Nashville and Nathan Murry of Pinckneyville. They completed 24 weeks of general law enforcement training and specific conservation police training totaling nearly 1,000 hours to get to this point. They had to attend the Illinois State Police Academy first. The ICP officers protect visitors to state parks on the waterways and roadways and enforce game and fish laws, boat safety, as well as alcohol and drug laws. There are now 140 C.P.O.s in the state.
