The Nashville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors met yesterday.  They talked about how the Volunteer of the Year Banquet went and it made $3,235, while the Chicken and Beer Dance made $1,239, so there were 2 successful events by the Chamber in the past couple of months.  Executive Director Davanna Behr told the Board about some upcoming events, such as Reality Day for 8th graders at Nashville schools on April 17th.  Volunteers will man stations and the students will select a job and earn an income, but they must also make decisions on how they will live their life and then spend their money on things like housing, transportation, food and so forth.  All to show them what it is like to have a job and pay the bills to live.  The golf outing is April 26th and teams are now forming.  The round will be a 4-man best ball event with a shotgun start at 11 AM at the Nashville Golf Course.  Food will follow at the American Legion and it will be catered by Eagle’s Nest.  There will be a longest drive and closest to the pin contest, as well as a 50-50 drawing.  Call the Chamber to sign up a team at 327-3700.  The Board also agreed to make large purchases using a bid system.  If you use Nashville Dollars to make purchases, almost every business in Nashville takes them, but Hardees has told the Chamber that they will not be able to accept them anymore.  The store does not have a way to accept the refund from the Chamber, as everything goes through the corporate office.  It has become an ordeal for them, so they have opted out of the program.  Fall Festival is coming up and the Board looked at some advertising options, but tabled any decisions.  Behr said there are currently 97 paid members of the Chamber, but more come in every week.  The next general member meeting is Wednesday, April 9th at noon at Buretta’s Bar & Grill.
