Illinois State Representative Charlie Meier informs area students that the Illinois Department of Transportation is offering multiple summer internships throughout the state to engineering students.  The Summer Engineering Program is aimed at giving engineering students real life training and experience.  There is an age requirement, and applicants must identify a work location preference by county on the application.  Eligible applicants must also have completed a minimum of one year of college courses in engineering.  The internship begins on May 16, 2014 and will conclude on August 15, 2014 with a salary of $15.85 per hour is included in the internship.  Applications can be found online at www.dot.il.gov under the “Current Vacancies” tab or by contacting IDOT District Office 8 in Collinsville at 618-346-3110.  The application process runs now through April 25, 2014.
