Green Party candidate Gary Shepherd announced Wednesday that he will run for the 115th Illinois house seat this November.  The 56-year old Shepherd has lived in southern Illinois since going to SIU in 1975.  He received his bachelor degrees in English and Journalism in 1979.  Since 1989, he has worked as a Library Assistant at SIUC’s Morris Library.  Shepherd said running for the house seat as a member of the Green Party is something he felt needed to happen.  Shepherd’s opponents in November’s election for the 115th seat are Terri Bryant, a Republican out of Murphysboro and Bill Kilquist, a Democrat from Murphysboro.  They are running for a seat currently held by Representative Mike Bost, who decided against a run for reelection in favor for a run for Congress.
