Updating a story from earlier this month, a southwestern Illinois police chief has been charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and battery for his actions during a village board meeting.  The Belleville News-Democrat reports Caseyville Police Chief Jose Alvarez allegedly made threatening gestures and stalked about the room during a meeting of the Caseyville Village Board on February 19th.  Illinois State Police also say Alvarez chest-bumped Caseyville Police Sgt. Frank Moore during the meeting.  Caseyville Mayor Leonard Black fired Alvarez twice in February, saying he wanted to take a different direction with the police department.  Despite his alleged outburst, the village board unanimously voted to reinstate Alvarez.  The 61-year old Alvarez of Smithton was hired in September to replace J.D. Roth, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
