The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released their weekly report and they assisted only 1 motorist, but responded to several reports of abandoned vehicles. They also responded to 6 accidents, one involved assisting the Nashville Police Department. Calls included a report of neighborhood trouble in Irvington, a burglary near Venedy, arresting 34-year old Mark S. Godbey, Junior of Venedy on an outstanding Washington County Warrant, a theft in Ashley, arresting 21-year old Gustavo Flores of Hoffman on an outstanding Clinton County Warrant, a report of identity theft from a resident of rural Nashville, a dispute in Addieville that turned out to be civil, a report of identity theft due to a fraudulent tax return being filed in their name in Addieville, a report of fraud of a resident in rural Hoyleton, a domestic trouble complaint in Addieville, a domestic incident in Coulterville, property damage in Hoyleton and a report of theft in Irvington. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to several accidents. One occurred last Tuesday on Interstate 64 near mile marker 49 in the eastbound lane. The driver, 25-year old Brentin J. Lee of Nashville, Tennessee was arrested for Driving While License Suspended. There were no injuries, but the vehicle had to be towed. The was another accident last Tuesday on Illinois Route 127 near Mississippi road, as a vehicle driven by 62-year old Philip E. Brandenburg of DuQuoin, blew out a tire, which caused him to lose control of the car and strike a guardrail. He was not injured, but his passenger, 61-year old Victoria A. Brandenburg, also of DuQuoin was transported to Washington County Hospital. That same day, 67-year old Billie H. Kerins of Centralia, swerved to avoid an animal and struck a sign post and went into a ditch. There was no mention of any injuries or where it happened. A week ago, there was an accident on Route 127 at GDB International as a vehicle driven by 21-year old Johnathon D. Downs of Radom struck a vehicle driven by 33-year old Margaret A. Chaney of New Baden, while turning. Downs was issued a citation for Failure to Reduce Speed To Avoid an Accident. A couple of passengers in Chaney’s vehicle were transported to Washington County Hospital due to injuries.
