The Nashville City Council met last night and they heard some complaints from residents that live on East Alton Street about Precision Automotive at the corner of Alton and Illinois Route 127.  Joanne Schorfheide and Julie Keller both live on East Alton and spoke, as well as had pictures for the Council to look at.  Another individual, Ruth Ann Kujawa is in support of the others, as she frequently is on East Alton Street.  The complaints stem from the automotive business parking in a section of East Alton that has a sign that says no parking from a spot back to Route 127.  The Mayor asked the Police Department to keep an eye on the situation of vehicles being parked illegally near the business.  Schorfheiede says this causes a congestion with the other vehicles parked on the other side of East Alton, especially to anyone turning at the street from Route 127, if there is a car waiting to turn onto Route 127.  There is also a complaint that large trucks take up too much space, sometimes sticking out onto Route 127.  Another complaint was that sometime the cars out front are parked on the sidewalk and people can’t use it safely.  Mayor Raymond Kolweier said he has talked to owner Pat Belong about the situation just recently and was told there are too many vehicles at the garage on South Mill Street, but that was because of a back-up of vehicles at Belong’s other property on Goodner Street, where he stores vehicles.  The Mayor said some vehicles were recently moved off and said that should help and the ladies agreed it is slightly better, but still a problem.  Keller added that there is a fire hydrant at the corner by Route 127 and it is sometimes blocked off, which could be a problem if there is a fire in the area and fire fighters need to access it.  Schorfheide said she has made such complaints many times in the past 5 years or so and she says she is a good neighbor and would like Belong to also be a good neighbor.  Mayor Kolweier said he would stay on top of the situation.
