A hearing has been canceled for a former Illinois state trooper who has been trying to get his driving privileges restored after he caused a southwestern Illinois freeway crash.  Matt Mitchell was initially scheduled to have a hearing yesterday in Mount Vernon, but the hearing was postponed and hasn’t been rescheduled.  He’s argued unsuccessfully several times to get his license back and is making use of limitless reinstatement requests allowed by law.  Mitchell was a state trooper in 2007 when his cruiser crossed the median east of Saint Louis and slammed into oncoming traffic, killing Collinsville teenagers Jessica and Kelli Uhl.  Mitchell had been driving more than 120 miles per hour at the time and using his cellphone and computer.  He pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and received probation.
