The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees met last night for the regular monthly meeting. They approved the annual budget for the fiscal year 2014 – 2015. The Board approved a resolution for DePew and Owen of Centralia as the contractor for the west parking lot repairs in the amount of $52,000 and also approved the resolution for BLDD Architects to proceed with construction documents and the bidding process for the Corridor at the Trenton Education Center. The Board also approved a resolution authorizing the design, preparation of construction documents and bidding for the construction of Phase II of the Veterans Tribute Project. They approved a resolution for the purchase of the Microsoft Campus Agreement and student club allocations for the 2014 – 2015 school year. In personnel action, the Board approved the retirement of Phil Ellrich, Director of Physical Plant. The Board approved the classification of Lisa Atkins to Dean of Adult Education and Literacy; named Jill Klosterman the new Director of Financial Aid and Katherine Overstreet, the new Director of the Learning Resource Center. They also approved the hiring of Christena Elliot as the new Professor of Mathematics and accepted the resignation of Brittany White as the Administrative Assistant for the KC Centralia Correctional Center. The Board approved a resolution to accept the donation of artwork to the College. Nationally known sculptor Edward McCullough recently visited the College and after learning about what the program offered, he chose to make a donation of five outdoor sculptures for placement at the KC Main Campus. The Board also approved a resolution for the purchase of physical plant equipment as well as the final reading of the Smoke Free Campus Policy. Also approved was the College Health Insurance Plan and a resolution for the disposition of College Property.
