The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to a few of accidents and assisted 4 motorists. On Wednesday, they assisted the Illinois State Police with a minor accident on Interstate 64 at mile marker 55 that involved debris on the roadway. On Thursday, they assisted the ISP with the traffic crash on I-64 at mile marker 56.5 that involved 2 Mount Vernon residents being injured, from the story we ran yesterday. They responded to an accident involving a deer on Route 160 between Addieville and Okawville. The driver, 25-year old Alisha A. Finke of Nashville was uninjured. Other calls included responding to an abandoned vehicle on U.S. Highway 51, south of Holly Road near Irvington, assisting the Nashville Police with an arrest warrant on Thursday, assisting the Washington County Ambulance Service on a couple of calls, receiving a report of theft in Ashley and rural Nashville and they investigated a report of mailbox damage on County Highway 6 in Okawville Township. Anyone with information on this is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 327-4800, extension 335. Deputies also responded to a report of fraud in Ashley, took a report of domestic violence in Coulterville and a verbal domestic disturbance in rural Ashley, as well as conducting a welfare check at a residence in Hoyleton. They did not arrest anyone.
