The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to several calls in the past week, including 2 accidents and assisting 2 motorists.  One accident was last Thursday on Interstate 64 near mile marker 44, as 29-year old Jennifer Allphin of Fort Scott, Kansas was involved in a single vehicle accident with no injuries.  The other accident was also on Thursday on Route 127 near Pine Road.  According to that report, 52-year old Brigette Crawford of Taylorville, Illinois lost control of her motorcycle and went off the road into a ditch.  No injuries were reported.  Other calls included a downed power line on U.S. Highway 51 north of Ashley last Wednesday, a report of debris on Highway 51 near Holly Road, responded to a call of an abandoned vehicle on Texas Road near Route 15, assisted the Illinois State Police by providing transport of a subject who had car trouble, removed a ladder from Interstate 64 near mile marker 39 and responded to suspicious activity near Addieville on Monday.  They also arrested 24-year old Jake P. Armer for Aggravated Domestic Battery after responding to a call of a domestic disturbance in rural Okawville.  They also received a report from Farmers & Merchants Bank that their customers were receiving automated phone calls requesting personal information.  The bank manager stated that the bank does not have an automated bank system like that.
