The Illinois Department of Employment Security, citing the independent Conference Board, reported that employers sought 214,000 new hires, an increase of 12,500 over July. The data point indicates employers believe that they need more workers to meet consumer demand for products and services.  The data is seasonally adjusted.  Included in the data are 160,000 positions advertised on Illinoisjoblink.com.  In Region 9, which includes Washington and Clinton Counties, there were 5,100 jobs advertised in August, compared to 4,700 jobs advertised the month before.  There were 744 jobs in sales and related occupations, 603 jobs in computer and mathematical occupations, 562 jobs in healthcare practitioners and technical occupations, 538 jobs in office and administrative support occupations and 443 jobs in transportation and material moving occupations.  Job seekers can build multiple resumes to emphasize different skills and experiences.  Employers can use keyword matching technology to search resumes and find the best candidate.  Illinoisjoblink.com is free, including an evaluation of potential tax incentives for hiring certain individuals, such as Veterans, the formerly incarcerated and those using certain forms of public assistance.
