There was a ribbon cutting for a new business in Nashville on Saturday morning. Vintage Junkee had the ceremony at their new store, located on the 500 block of South Mill Street. Rachel Meinert and her mother Sara Meinert have been working with antiques for a few years out of a workshop and traveling to Saint Louis to show their items, so they decided to open a store. Rachel says they have a lot of vintage items that they purchase at flea markets, garage sales and auctions, which they then redo, usually painting them. They also have old windows that Sara decorates with sayings or decals. Basically they try to get the most unique things they can find. Rachel says they don’t decorate everything in the store, that way someone can find something they want and pick the color paint or other decoration. They even do this for items that people bring in to be decorated. Because the Meinerts travel looking for items, the store will only be open a couple of weekends per month.
