The Nashville High School Marching Band is busy this weekend, as they will be in their first parade and first field competition of the year. Tomorrow they will travel to O’Fallon High School for the Metro East Marching Classic for the first time.  Nashville is in Class A and will perform second in the group consisting of Saint Charles High School, East Richland High School, Mater Dei High School and Highland High School.  After their performance about 4:30 PM, the students will stick around and watch many of the other bands perform.  The students really like to see what kind of show the other bands put together.  NCHS Marching Band has been working hard this summer and school year with one of the most difficult shows Director Steve Browne has been a part of, but he thinks it is worth it to the students to challenge them each year with the marching and the music, instead of putting something easy together.  If you haven’t seen their halftime show yet, it consists of dragons and even has the band members form the shape of the yin-yang symbol.  It is $8 to get in, while $5 for students and seniors.  There will also be concessions available.  On Sunday, the band will be marching in the Wheat Festival Parade in Okawville, beginning at 2 o’clock.  This is a staple of their performances, as they join several other middle school and high school marching bands from the area.
