The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to some accidents in the past week. Last Wednesday, they responded to County Highway 6 at the intersection with South Kenyon Road, as a vehicle driven by 53-year old Patricia O’Riley of Marissa struck a truck driven 26-year Michael C. Curry of Ashley. The accident is still under investigation. They responded to a single vehicle accident on Friday on County Highway 8, east of DuBois, as 46-year old Anita Frey of Nashville hit a deer. On Sunday, just about 12:40 AM, they assisted the Nashville Fire Department on a call to a fire on Fillmore Road, off of Route 127, south of Nashville. Fire Chief Alan Hohlt says the vacant barn was fully engage in flames and is a total loss. He said there was no cause or origin of the fire at this time. The Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the fire and is asking if anyone has any information, to call them at 618-327-4800, extension 335. They also arrested 27-year old Travis Maxfield of Centralia on an outstanding Washington County warrant, took 41-year old Tina L. Murphy of Irvington into custody for outstanding warrants out of Marion and Hamilton Counties. Other calls included assisting the Okawville Police with traffic control on an incident and a medical emergency later in the week, responding to water on the road on U.S. Highway 51 near Nevada Road last Wednesday, investigated a complaint of trespassing in Ashley Township and received a report of someone throwing items off of County Highway 4 onto Interstate 64 near Addieville.
