The Nashville City Council met for a short meeting last night and trick or treating will be on Friday, October 31st from 5 to 8:30 PM for children ages 12 and under. They also learned that a piece of equipment needed every week to test the oxygen and temperature of the materials at the compost site has broken and can’t be repaired anymore, as it is approximately 20 years old. The Council approved the purchase of a new unit in the amount of $2,060. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has regulations that must be met in regards to the temperature and amount of oxygen present in the compost site. All Trash Days will be Saturday, September 27th, Wednesday, October 1st and Saturday, October 4th, all from 8 AM to 4 PM at the city compost site. The recycle truck will also be there on October 4th. Utilities Department Supervisor Blaine Middleton updated the Council on the progress of fixing the sewer piping that needs lining. They are trying to find out how much footage of lining that they need. The found and worked on the section on Route 127 by the high school, but they have another 2 sections that need the lining and they are checking other areas of pipe that might need a lining to get it all done at once. Some of the work they would not be able to do themselves and they want to get their ducks in line before bringing it to the Council. The new Street Department shed is completely under roof, the windows are in and they are putting up the soffit and trim. Another payment was approved for work being done on the shed in the amount of $58,104 for framing and partial plumbing work.
