The Hoyleton Grade School Board of Education met last Thursday night and they were presented with the 2013-2014 School Report Card. It showed that there were 58 students with an average class size of 9 students. The school had an attendance rate of 97 percent. The percentage of students at the school that met or exceeded the standards of the ISAT was 40 percent, lower than the State rate of 59 percent. The school’s percentage dropped 6 in the past year. 62 percent of the students attending are from low income families, while 3 percent are homeless and 48 percent have disabilities. It costs $7,521 per student to teach them and $14,045 per student to operate the school, both above the State cost. Overall, the report didn’t have that many bright spots.
