The Chief Executive Officer of Washington County Hospital in Nashville, Nancy Newby has been re-elected secretary of the 2015 Illinois Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees. Newby, a Board of Trustees member since 2008, will assume the position on January 1, 2015. The IHA Board of Trustees is the Association’s policymaking body. The Board is made up of 31 trustees, including 15 at-large trustees elected by the voting members of the Association, nine regional trustees elected directly by the regions, six elected officers, and the Association’s president and CEO ex-officio. Constituency sections, councils and ad hoc task forces provide members with opportunities to participate in the Association’s policy development process. Newby, who has 40 years of hospital nursing and administration experience, has been active in IHA since 2003. She most recently served on IHA’s Executive Committee, the Small and Rural Models Work Group of the Transforming Illinois Health Care Task Force, Small and Rural Legislative Committee, and The Institute for Innovations in Care and Quality Advisory Board. She is a past Board member of the American Cancer Society of Southern Illinois and serves on the Washington County Relay for Life committee and Nashville Chamber of Commerce. Newby holds a master’s degree in nursing from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a doctorate degree in nursing from Saint Louis University.
