Five American Legion Posts in Clinton County are hosting a New Year’s Day Poker Run  to benefit the Veterans Tribute Project located on the main campus of Kaskaskia College.  Albers American Legion Post #1026, Beckemeyer American Legion Post #1227, Breese American Legion Post #252, Germantown American Legion Post #325 and New Baden American Legion Post #321 are each hosting the ride, which begins with a shotgun start from any of the sponsoring legions at 11 AM on Thursday, January 1st.  Participants must then travel to the other posts as part of the run before ending the ride at the New Baden American Legion at 5 PM.  Cash Prizes and attendance prizes will be awarded at the end of the evening.  Food will also be available at each of the participating Legions.  Unlike other runs, this event is open to all vehicles.  Proceeds go towards the Veterans Tribute, which has been created to honor veterans who have connections to the counties of Bond, Clinton, Fayette, Marion and Washington.  The Veterans Tribute Committee is now engaged in fundraising for the second phase of the project, which is to construct three additional walls that will contain more than 38,000 names and branches of service of area veterans.  The Tribute is lit in the evening and available for viewing 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  For more information on the New Year’s Day Poker Run you can contact Bob at 618-248-5602, Terry at 618-526-7302, Don at 618-779-0551, Wayne at 618-806-1408 or Eileen at 618-526-7629.
