Congressman John Shimkus is announcing his 14 nominations to the military service academies, which includes one Okawville student.  The four military academies that require Congressional nominations are the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis and the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.  Tyler S. Riechmann of Okawville has had his name submitted to the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy.  The Congressman nominates, and then the academies themselves make the final determination whether a nominee receives an appointment to attend that academy.
