There was an accident on January 3rd that involved a Washington County Deputy that is still under investigation. According to the Illinois State Police report, the officer was responding to a 9-1-1 call that afternoon and was eastbound on County Highway 6 and was stuck by a van, driven by Ellaretta G. Aydt of Nashville, as it was going north on County Highway 13. The deputy reportedly hit his lights as he was approaching the intersection, but was still struck. 3 people were sent to Washington County Hospital with injuries, including the officer. Aydt and her passenger, Madalyn M. Morris of Nashville were also injured. No citations were issued at the time, but the incident is being reviewed by the State’s Attorney’s Office at this time. The road was closed for approximately 3 hours due to the accident.
