The Washington County Board met last night for a short meeting. County Engineer Mitch Burdick reported that the fuel bids came in and FS was the low bidder again this year. He also reported that they have received all of the salt for the year. County Clerk Nancy Heseman reported that they have begun sending the oldest of files off to be put onto microfilm. This could take up to a couple of years. There was a request from Bill Krohne to rezone 2.11 acres from agriculture to residential for a home to be put up at a later date. This was approved by the Board. Jamie Jones has resigned from the Washington County Health Department to go work for the Illinois Department of Public Health, so the Board will be looking at candidates in the next month to replace Jones. Board member Alan Hohlt reported that health insurance quotes have gone up 3 percent per month for this coming year, but dental and vision rates have not. The Board approved of Gary Reynolds replacing James Baldwin on the Nashville Masonic Cemetery Board until July 2017. Last month they approved of the Supervisor of Assessments as a full-time position to be eligible for IMRF. After going through the paperwork, it was determined that a resolution needed to be passed to allow Sharon Harre Mewes to be eligible for IMRF, so that was passed last night and the paperwork will now be completed. The contracts were signed with Korte & Luitjohan out of Highland and Cenpro Services out of Madison to do the work on the renovation of the courthouse. Building Committee Chairman Gary Suedmeyer talked about the move to the Nashville Community Center, which is scheduled to begin on March 2nd. The main offices will begin moving out the 1st three weeks of February, with each office getting one week. The Assessor’s office will be first, followed by the Treasurer’s office and the County Clerk’s office in the third week. Board Chairman Dave Meyer went into more detail and how it might affect the public. They are trying to make the move as smooth as possible. The public will be advised that each office holder will determine how many days their move will take and the office will be closed during that time span. The goal is to get the move done completely and not worry about trying to open the office up when it isn’t ready. Some items still need to be moved to the new Judicial Building. There will be a surplus sale of items in the courthouse on February 21st. The Building Committee has also been interviewing moving companies for the upcoming move to the Nashville Community Center. The next meeting will be on February 10th in the courthouse, but after that meetings will be in the activity room at the Community Center.
