The Kaskaskia College Music Department is proud to announce the gift of a baby grand piano from Stephanie Buscheart of Chesterfield, Missouri. The baby grand piano is a Stroud made by The Aeolian Company circa 1955. The piano originally belonged to Miss Buscheart’s late mother and father-in-law and later owned by her son. “My son would play the piano alongside his grandfather when he was young. After they passed away, my son kept the piano, but after he moved to Phoenix, we realized we needed to find a new home for it. We are thrilled that it now belongs to a College and I know my mother and father-in-law as well as my late husband are watching from above and thrilled that Kaskaskia College is now the new owner of our family heirloom.” KC Professor of Music, Cliff Jourdan, says the piano will be used primarily in the choral rehearsal room where its warm tone will complement the voices in the ensemble. He adds, “In addition, it will be used by class piano students. The students will benefit by playing on real keys as opposed to those on electronic keyboards; this allows them to have the correct feel and posture and promotes correct technique as they learn”.
