The District Court for the Southern District of Illinois in Benton will host a Congressional Swearing-In Ceremony at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 30th at the Benton Civic Center. Congressman John Shimkus, Congressman Rodney Davis and newly elected Congressman Mike Bost will take a ceremonial oath of office before their constituents, family and friends. The public is invited to witness this historic event. Congressmen Shimkus, Davis, and Bost took the official oath of office on January 6th. The Congressmen represent portions of the Southern District of Illinois, which is one of three federal judicial districts in Illinois and is comprised of the 38 southernmost counties. Shimkus started his tenth term in the House of Representatives, while Congressman Davis started his second term and Congressman Bost started his first term.
