Kaskaskia College is pleased to announce that Dr. Jim and Roxie Underwood were inducted into the KC Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday.  Since coming to Kaskaskia College in 2001, the Underwoods have been constant supporters of athletics through their attendance at games, development of and membership in the Kaskaskia College Athletic Association and adopting at least two athletes each year through the College’s Adopt an Athlete Program.  During Dr. Underwood’s tenure there has been consistent expansion and improvement of college athletic facilities, including construction of the Sports & Wellness Complex, establishment of new a softball field and improvement of the baseball field, a new soccer field, a six court tennis venue, enhancements to the gymnasium entrance and construction of a state of the art Fitness Center, as well as a Sports and Activities Facility and Fitness Trail.  At each groundbreaking and dedication ceremony along the way Roxie has been present to show her support for KC Athletics.  Additionally, working with private community members, two apartment buildings were erected in walking distance of the campus to serve 100 KC students.  During the years that the Underwoods have been the “first family” of KC, they have hosted student athletes and coaches in their home.  They have been present at many of the athletic competitions both home and away and exemplify true and loyal Blue Devil and Blue Angel fans.  Their support has promoted growth in numbers and competitiveness of the school’s teams and most importantly provided opportunities for students to display their athletic talent while achieving their educational goals.
