Election Day is tomorrow. It will be an interesting vote for the residents of the Hoyleton Grade School District. There are several positions open on their Board of Education, but it will only be for a short time, as the school district dissolves as of July 1st. Also, what will this mean for the Nashville Grade School Board of Education after they take in the HGS students in the next school year? Nashville Superintendent Mike Brink talked about the unique situation. They will still have to have an election and their Board will still have to assume duties through July 1st. The NGS School Board did talk about incorporating some of the HGS Board members into the Nashville Board as advisory members for a period of time, but they would not have voting privileges or anything like that. They would be able to sit at meetings, including closed sessions to offer advice and opinions to make sure the transition is going smoothly. He went on to say that in 2 years at the next election, the Hoyleton area could be represented by a candidate or candidates on the Nashville Grade School Board of Education. Regardless, the HGS Board needs residents to vote tomorrow.
