The Nashville Memorial Park Board met last night for a long meeting, as they had several items to vote on to get the park ready for the nice weather.  Matt Gajewski with the Park District League ball teams talked to the Board about the upcoming ball seasons.  They will be playing in the Clinton County Recreation League with Bartelso, Beckemeyer, Carlyle and Okawville with the first games sometime in the first week of May.  He reported that Royce Newman will be the League Director and will be responsible for how the fields and park looks around the ball diamonds.  He reported that he has over 40 teams wanting to be in the NIT on June 12th through the 14th, so they will need to use all the ball fields in town, but it will bring lots of groups and families into Nashville for the weekend.  The Board agreed to purchase a new drag piece of equipment to be used on the dirt part of the ball fields with the price not to exceed $500.  Also, the electrical work will be done soon by J & R Appliances, as their bids for 2 projects were approved.  One project will be to separate power at the ball fields away from the pavilion as they will split the panel and everything will run separately.  This will include putting in a new box.  It will cost $18,176.  The other project is to put up some cross arms on the lights to get them to stay up better and re-aim them on the fields.  They will also put up an L.E.D. light over the playground area by the ball fields.  This will be done for $3,600.  There was more discussion about a playground area project in honor of Sierra Wilder, who died in the plane crash with the Gutzlers at the beginning of the year.  The goal will be to raise $20,000 for the project.  Batson Construction was approved to do work on the pool house, the crow’s nest at the ball fields, repair a hole over the stage on Pavilion 4, as well as guttering work.  Ketchum Construction was approved to do patch work on the pool deck and on the pool floor.   Pride Tree Service was approved to cut down some trees around the park, but mostly in the area across from the American Legion Hall on the corner section.  The Board has the opportunity to purchase a bucket truck and they approved of this purchase not to exceed $3,500.  They also approved of purchasing a water pressure sprayer from Restoff Hardware for $699, if they cannot locate the one they purchased years ago.
