The Washington County Sheriff’s Department was very busy in the past week, as they responded to several calls, including a couple of accidents.  Both were on Saturday with one at Ashley Park for a fender bender, but the other was on County Highway 27, north of Interstate 64.  According to the report, a vehicle driven by 38-year old Aaron M. Dreas of New Baden, left the roadway, struck a bridge abutment and overturned.  There were no injuries reported or any citations issued.  On Thursday, they did assist the Illinois State Police with a vehicle that ran off the highway near mile marker 52 in the eastbound lanes.  They also took some calls of tax fraud from some residents, as well as several reports of identity theft, just like the Nashville Police Department did last week.  Last Tuesday, they arrested 34-year old Maryellen J. Klein of Richview for DUI and cited her for Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.  They responded to the area of 3rd Street and Superior in Irvington for a suspicious vehicle, arrested 23-year old Brittany Anthony of Ashley for a Marion County warrant and responded to Elkton Road for a report of burglary.  A week ago, deputies found an abandoned vehicle at Sycamore Road and Peach Tree Road near Irvington, made a welfare check to a residence in Irvington and conducted a traffic stop in Addieville, which resulted in 25-year old Mindy T. Thacker of Addieville being arrested for Driving with a Suspended License and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  On Thursday, they assisted the Okawville Police as they responded to a business alarm in Addieville, but the business was searched and no one was inside and no further action was taken.  They arrested 36-year old Shelby W. Smith on an outstanding Washington County warrant, as Smith was in the Washington County Judicial Building for a court appearance, already in custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections.  The warrant was served and Smith remained in the IDOC’s custody.  Deputies also took a report of fraud from a resident in Venedy, assisted the OPD on another call and assisted the Illinois State Police with an abandoned vehicle on Interstate 64 near Okawville.  On Friday, they assisted the Nashville Police on a traffic stop, located a fallen tree on Route 15 near Angela Street and cleared it and transported a 39-year old male from Vernon, Illinois to the Washington County Jail from the Marion County Jail, as Ronald L. Henderson was held on an outstanding warrant for Petition to Revoke Probation.  On Saturday, they responded to a call of a domestic battery case by a resident in Ashley and on Sunday, they responded to parking complaint in Richview and a report of burglary from a shed in rural Coulterville.
