Updating a story from last week, about 600 school districts will benefit from $97 million that the Illinois State Board of Education has approved for those with the greatest funding needs, including many in the county. Nearly all of the districts identified in the plan as eligible for funding will get about three-quarters of the money that had been cut under the budget deal signed into law last month by Governor Bruce Rauner. The funds being returned range from a few thousand to tens of millions of dollars. 32 districts are getting 95 percent of their cut funding restored, while another 546 districts will get 73.6 percent of their funding restored. Ashley Grade School will receive $8,987, Hoyleton Grade School will receive $2,461, Irvington Grade School will get $3,717 and Oakdale Grade School will receive $5,765. The remaining 278 school districts were deemed ineligible, including both Nashville High School and Grade School, as well as West Washington County School District #10.
