The Nashville Police responded to several accidents in the past week.  Last Monday, there was a 2-vehicle accident on South Mill Street at East Adams Street in the noon hour.  An SUV driven by a 17-year old male from DuBois was attempting to turn onto South Mill Street, but did not see an SUV driven by 22-year old Greg Guest of Nashville approaching, and the 2 vehicles collided.  There was no mention of any injuries or any citations issued.  Tuesday afternoon, there was an accident on North West Court Street near West Saint Louis Street, as a FedEx box truck driven by 37-year old James Harris of Florissant, Missouri was turning into a parking spot, when a van driven by 62-year old Henry M. Sandow of East Saint Louis, Illinois side-swiped the truck.  No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.  Later Tuesday afternoon, there was an accident at Route 127 and IDOT Shed Road, as a car driven by 45-year old Shawn M. Matecki of Ashley, was stopped on Route 127, waiting to turn left onto Exchange Avenue, when a vehicle driven by a 16-year old female of Hoyleton did not stop in time and hit the back of the car.  No injuries were reported and there were no citations issued.  In the noon hour on Wednesday, there was a 3-vehicle crash on East Saint Louis Street, 200 feet west of South Mill Street.  A car driven by 53-year old Christy Lackey of Nashville was parked on East Saint Louis Street and began to enter the eastbound lane, but did not see an approaching car driven by a 17-year old female of DuBois.  Lackey’s car struck the other car in the passenger side, causing it to spin into another parked car being driven by Bryan Warren of Edwardsville.  There was no mention of any injuries or any citations issued.  On Saturday afternoon, there was an accident on East Saint Louis Street at Reservoir Road.  A pickup truck driven by 18-year old Daniel Thorson was stopped and waiting to turn onto Reservoir Road, when the truck was struck in the rear by a car driven by 52-year old Ruth Heidel of Ashley, who did not see the stopped truck.  There were no injuries or citations issued, but the road was blocked for a time.  The NPD also responded to a couple of reports of Tax Fraud and a few calls about Identity Theft, which is a growing problem in this area.  They also took a report of property damage from a person on the 600 block of West Alton Street, assisted on a property exchange on the 300 block of West High Street, responded to a 911 hang up from the 1,300 block of South Mill Street, got an animal complaint from a resident on the 500 block of North Broadway, responded to a burning complaint on the 500 block of West Goodner Street, responded to the intersection of Route 127 and Route 15 for two male transients, assisted with a property exchange on the 600 block of South Kaskaskia Street, responded to an alarm on the 100 block of South Washington Street, took a report of vandalism from a person on the 300 block of West Lebanon Street, took a report of a child custody dispute on the 11,700 block of Route 127, as well as another 911 hang up call from somewhere on the 700 block of South Mill Street.  They also responded to the 300 block of West Maple Street for a report of domestic battery.  Officers then arrested 35-year old James Kozuszek of Nashville for Aggravated Domestic Battery and Resisting Arrest.  Also, on Saturday night, there was a report of a reckless driver on Route 15, entering Nashville from the west.  Police were able to locate the pickup truck and pull it over at the Circle K.  The driver, 19-year old Dylan Haas of Sandoval was arrested for Driving While License Suspended and for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis.  He was also cited for Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.
