Beginning tomorrow, the Illinois Department of Transportation will begin construction on Interstate 64 from mile marker 48 to 50 in the eastbound lanes, weather permitting. This is to patch areas where the pavement is failing and this will result in a reduction to one lane. The project could be done in a week, again depending on the weather. Motorists are asked to reduce speed, be patient, watch for stopped traffic ahead of them, and watch for workers in the work zone.
