Illinois State Police are investigating a shooting involving an East Saint Louis Housing Authority police officer that left one man injured.  Captain James Morrisey says security guards were investigating burglaries on Saturday around 1 PM at a complex when they encountered a 20-year old man.  He was shot by a Housing Authority officer and taken to a hospital.  The man’s injuries aren’t considered life-threatening.  Cortez Slack is the chief of the Housing Authority’s police department. He says the shooting took place at John DeShields Homes.  He says the officer has been put on paid administrative leave.  Housing Authority officers receive training through the Saint Clair County Sheriff’s Department.  They have authority to make arrests and carry a gun.
