The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees met last night for the regular monthly meeting. The Board approved a Transfer Agreement with Central Methodist University that will streamline the transfer process for Kaskaskia College graduates.  Through the signed articulation agreement, Kaskaskia College graduates are guaranteed equal standing with native Central Methodist University Students.  In addition, three 2 Plus 2 articulation agreements were developed in nursing, criminal justice, and health sciences.  These provide a guaranteed pathway for Kaskaskia College graduates to complete their bachelor’s degrees with only two years of additional study.  Further 2 Plus 2 articulation agreements are in development and will be added to the agreement in the future.  The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees approved the College Summer Schedule to allow flexible staff scheduling and minimize building utilization to align with the demand during the summer months.  Critical campus services and departments staff will be consolidated and relocated to the Lifelong Learning Center, the Health and Professional Careers Building and the Fitness Center on Fridays during the summer schedule period, which will be in effect from May 22nd and end July 31st.   The Board also approved the Administration to submit application forms to the Illinois Community College Board for approval to reallocate excess Protection, Health and Safety funds from the HVAC Fine Arts Building project, to be used for improvements to the pedestrian bridge on the KC Main Campus.  The Board then proceeded to approve Superior Waterproofing and Restoration Company, Incorporated of Saint Louis to provide repairs for the pedestrian bridge with funding for the project coming from the PHS funds.  The Board also approved a resolution to award bids for purchase of computer and technology equipment, a resolution to approve a contractor to provide asbestos abatement services and renovation for the Science Lab Phase V.  The Board also accepted the bids for computer and technology equipment, a scissor lift and the purchase of classroom and office furniture for the new Nursing Education Center and the Nashville Education Center.  The Board also accepted the donation of welders for the Welding Program from the Southern Illinois Erectors Association.  In other action, Kimberly Daum of Centralia was seated as the new Student Trustee for the 2015-16 academic year and outgoing student trustee Courtney Gerstenecker was recognized for her service.
