It’s time for all dog owners in Washington County to get their pet their rabies vaccination.  It is a county ordinance, along with the Illinois State Animal Control Act, that requires every dog 4 months of age or older to have a rabies vaccination and be registered in the county where the owner resides.  Owners may choose to get a 1 year or 3 year vaccination for their dog.  It is $10 for the 1 year vaccine or $25 for the 3 year vaccine.  Dogs under 1 year old can only get the 1 year vaccine.  Dogs will be registered at the time of the shot and that is $4 per year.  Dogs not spayed or neutered also have an additional $10 registration fee, which is deposited into the state pet population control fund.  The traveling clinic began today and continues tomorrow.  Tomorrow they will stop at the Plum Hill Town Hall from 8:30 to 9 AM, then at the Addieville Fire Station from 9:15 to 9:45 AM, the Okawville Fire Station from 10 to 11 AM, the New Minden Village Hall from 1:30 to 2 PM and finally at the Hoyleton Village Park from 2:15 to 3 PM.  The final day is on Thursday.  For more information, contact the Washington County Animal Shelter at 327-4800, extension 355.  Today’s schedule was posted to our Facebook and website on Friday.
