Tomorrow is the final day for all dog owners in Washington County to get their pet their rabies vaccination through someone other than a vet. It is a county ordinance, along with the Illinois State Animal Control Act, that requires every dog 4 months of age or older to have a rabies vaccination and be registered in the county where the owner resides. Owners may choose to get a 1 year or 3 year vaccination for their dog. It is $10 for the 1 year vaccine or $25 for the 3 year vaccine. Dogs under 1 year old can only get the 1 year vaccine. Dogs will be registered at the time of the shot and that is $4 per year. Dogs not spayed or neutered also have an additional $10 registration fee, which is deposited into the state pet population control fund. The traveling clinic was Monday and Tuesday and continues tomorrow. It will stop at the Beaucoup Town Hall from 8:30 to 9 AM, 9:15 to 9:45 AM at the Richview Town Hall, 10 to 10:30 AM at the Irvington Fire Station, 1:15 to 1:45 PM at Venedy Town Hall, 2 to 2:30 PM at Stone Church and the tour ends at the Nashville Animal Clinic from 3 to 4 PM. For more information, contact the Washington County Animal Shelter at 327-4800, extension 355. This schedule will be posted to our Facebook and website later today.
