The Washington County Sheriff’s Office only responded to a couple of accidents and assisted a couple of motorists in the past week. One accident was last Thursday on DuBois Blacktop Road, near Rhode Island Road, as an accident occurred involving a school bus, which was handled by the Illinois State Police, but the WCSO handled an accident that occurred shortly after the bus accident. According to the report, a vehicle driven by 19-year old Heather S. McDaniel of DuQuoin rear-ended a vehicle driven by 43-year old Jacek A. Grabowski of DuBois. There were no injuries and no mention of any citations issued. The other accident occurred on Saturday on County Highway 23. A vehicle driven by 30-year old Kelly J. Fox, Junior of Centralia went off the road and struck a guardrail. There were no injuries and no mention of any citations. Deputies assisted the Nashville Fire Department on a call on Interstate 64 at mile marker 46 in the westbound lanes as it was reported that a semi-tractor trailer truck was possibly on fire. Deputies assisted the Okawville Police Department on a call, assisted the Illinois State Police with a traffic stop, responded to an Addieville resident in reference to a theft on Thursday, got another complaint of IRS scam from a rural Okawville resident and arrested 59-year old Michael S. Crane of Addieville on an outstanding warrant from Monroe County for Failure to Pay on traffic offenses. On Friday they responded to an address on Pepin Street in Irvington for a report of a theft. On Sunday, deputies got a report of an abandoned vehicle in rural Ashley, attempted to locate a reckless driver on Interstate 64, found a tree branch down in the roadway of Route 15 near Coolidge Road and then removed it and then responded to a subject walking on Route 127 near Route 161.
